This week photos surfaced that revealed Kristen Stewart cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, the actress realized there was no denying her steamy affair and released a statement Wednesday.
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” says Stewart, 22, in the statement. The star also offers up her most direct acknowledgment of her romance with her Twilight costar Pattinson, 26.
“This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
Stewart wasn’t alone in expressing her anguish once the cheating scandal came the the world’s attention. Sanders, 41, who has been married to British Vogue model Liberty Ross, for the last 7 years and with whom he shares two young children, released his own statement.
“I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family,” Sanders says in an exclusive statement to People magazine. “My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”
